www.onlinesbi.com of India, country’s largest public sector lender, has taken in several new rules for its customers. The lender is becoming world’s 45thlargest lender after merger with five sister banks and Bharatiya Mahila Bank.
SBI’s new norms relate to minimum balance requirement in savings bank accounts, amended service charges, new service tax rates, renewed locker fees, charges for availing new cheque books and much more, in accordance with Zee News.
Most prominent among these changed rules are based on customers who hold savings accounts at metro, urban, semi-urban and rural branches. The financial institution has made mandatory maintenance of minimum balance in these accounts from April 1.
Here is a primer on which the changed rules entail SBI customers to do.
1) From April 1, all SBI savings banking account holders is going to be needed to maintain stipulated minimum balance inside their accounts. The lender has categorised its customers under metro, urban, semi-urban and rural brackets.
2) A minimum balance element Rs 5,000 may be fixed to have an account holder in a branch in a metro city. Similarly, customers in urban, semi-urban and rural SBI bank branches are required to maintain Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively.
3) SBI in addition has formulated new rules for cash transactions particularly at its atm booths. Under new rules, an SBI bank card holder will be allowed five free transactions at its ATMs. Besides, there will be a charge of Rs 20 for any fourth transaction for debit card holders of other banks.
The financial institution will start charging Rs 50 after the first three cash deposits of the month. This limit is prescribed for saving bank accounts.
For current account holders the cash transaction charges can be as high as Rs 20,000
In urban centers like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru there will be a charge of Rs 100 plus service tax, in the event the balance goes below 75 percent with the minimum average balance.
If the account holder is falling lacking 50 % or fewer with the MAB.
Cash withdrawal from ATMs will probably be charged following the first three transaction for other banks and first five transactions from SBI ATMs.
The account holder is going to be charged Rs 20 following your three transactions from other bank ATMs and will also be charged Rs 10 for withdrawals from SBI ATMs.
There will be no charge on withdrawals from SBI ATMs if the account holder maintains a minimum balance of Rs 25,000

There won’t be any charge for UPI/ USSD transactions of up to Rs 1000.
