After researching the benefits of each product and the many bells and whistles that came with them, I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information available online. This company sells it in this strength and at this dosage. It can be very overwhelming for beginners. An old friend of mine is here to help, though!
Piedmont Green was founded in 2019 by Eric Abarelli, Christian Dobson, with the intent to promote a holistic and natural approach for healthy living using the benefits of CBD. Located in Kannapolis, North Carolina they have created quite a business despite the fact that they live on the Bible Belt–which opposes the use of cannabis. The team and their business have had such an impact on the community that they were able change people’s minds by educating them about CBD and its benefits. It is also important to add that they grow their own hemp and produce the products themselves, making it an organic, small business.
What is CBD?
To get us started, I asked Eric to go into what CBD is and how it works with our body. This is what he had to say:
CBD is a derivative from the Cannabis Sativa plant. It is non-psychoactive and contains very little THC (legal limit is 0.3%). Everybody has an Endocannabinoid, which is a system that binds with one’s nervous system, organs, and skeletal structures. It is composed of CB1 and CB2 receptors which are dormant Cannabis receptors waiting to accept an external source of cannabinoids. This system works with one’s body to regulate serotonin, dopamine and oxytocin.” With that being said, it has an ample amount of benefits and for those who don’t have insurance–it can truly be a lifesaver for those with depression and anxiety. However, please do not ever self-diagnose or do anything without consulting a medical professional.
The Potential Benefits of Using CBD
Eric mentioned the many benefits of CBD to me, but the FDA has yet to approve the product. On the bright side, “The FDA has approved only one CBD product, a prescription drug product to treat seizures associated with Lennox Gastaut syndrome (LGS), Dravet syndrome (DS), or tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) in people one year of age and older.” Which gives hope for the future and a more holistic approach to medicine.
There are many people who have used CBD and their experiences with it. However, doctors still don’t prescribe it. Despite legalization of medical marijuana in many states across the country, it has yet to become legal in all 50. The updated list is here. Here are some benefits to using CBD.
CBD could help with muscle pain/spasms and insomnia/sleep problems, fibromyalgia, autoimmune disorders, skin conditions (such as eczema or psoriasis), joint pains, Crohn’s Disease, IBS and migraines.
CBD could help with attention disorders like ADHD and ADD.
